Dallas law firm supporting engineering entrepreneurship
DALLAS – The Dallas-based intellectual property and business litigation law firm Caldwell Cassady & Curry is proud to announce the firm’s sponsorship of the inaugural Distinguished Lecture Series in Engineering Entrepreneurship presented by the Lyle School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University.
Caldwell Cassady & Curry is the lone sponsor for the year-long series, which will feature four separate presentations during the spring and fall semesters. The guest lecturers will focus on important and timely topics aimed at helping current and future engineers become successful entrepreneurs.
The first lecture on March 26 is by Eric Swanson, the co-founder or founding board member of five different start-up companies. A current board of directors member for Acacia Communications, Nine Point Medical, and Curata, he is the founding editor of OCTNews.org.
“Optical Coherence Tomography: A View on the Translation from Healthcare Ida to Healthcare Impact,” will focus on how a group of scientists, engineers, clinicians, entrepreneurs and others in the biomedical optics industry came together to transform an idea into a significant healthcare benefit for patients.
The second lecture from Bob Pauluk is set for April 24. Pauluk is the founder and managing director of CenterPoint Ventures, a $425 million venture capital fund based in Austin and Dallas that has provided funding for more than 50 start-up companies. “How the Game is Played: What Works and What Doesn’t in Starting Up Companies” will focus on innovative ideas and product development during the early growth stage for new companies.
Caldwell Cassady & Curry’s Austin Curry, a graduate of SMU’s Lyle School of Engineering, says his firm is committed to helping the next generation of entrepreneurial engineers.
