2019 Texas Rising Stars list recognizes attorneys from Dallas law firm

DALLAS – The Dallas-based intellectual property and business litigation law firm Caldwell Cassady & Curry is home to eight lawyers who have been named among the best in the state on the 2019 Texas Rising Stars list published by Thomson Reuters.

Name principal Austin Curry claimed his sixth consecutive selection to the exclusive listing based on his work for clients in intellectual property litigation. This marks the second year that Mr. Curry also has been named to the Up-and-Coming 100 list of the top young lawyers in Texas.

Firm principals Justin Nemunaitis, Hamad M. Hamad, Chris S. Stewart and John F. Summers similarly were named to the annual list of the state’s best based on their expertise in intellectual property cases.

Caldwell Cassady & Curry associates Daniel R. Pearson, Alexis Mosser and Warren McCarty also were named among Texas’ top attorneys age 40 and under. Mr. Pearson and Mr. McCarty were recognized for their work in intellectual property cases. Ms. Mosser once again was named for her business litigation work.

Since last year’s Texas Rising Stars list, the honored attorneys and other lawyers at Caldwell Cassady & Curry won an $8.2 million patent infringement verdict for Acantha LLC against medical device manufacturer DePuy Synthes, a subsidiary of health care giant Johnson & Johnson.

In a separate case, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in January upheld a judgment the firm won for Nevada-based VirnetX Inc. following a 2016 patent infringement trial against Apple Inc. The jury’s $302 million verdict in that trial in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas was entered as a $439 million judgment in favor of VirnetX in September 2017.

Caldwell Cassady & Curry represents companies and individuals in high-stakes civil litigation, including patent infringement cases, trade secrets claims, fiduciary duty cases, class actions, and disputes involving company founders. The firm has tried and won some of the nation’s top verdicts against the largest companies in the world.
