Dallas’ Caldwell Cassady & Curry Adds Experienced Attorney Kevin Burgess

Lawyer brings significant expertise in commercial litigation, intellectual property cases

DALLAS – The Dallas commercial litigation and intellectual property law firm Caldwell Cassady & Curry has added experienced trial attorney Kevin Burgess as a principal. Mr. Burgess joins the firm with a track record of than more than two decades representing clients in business disputes and patent infringement lawsuits.

A veteran of multiple federal court cases in different states, Mr. Burgess also regularly represents clients in matters before the U.S. International Trade Commission. He previously served as a judicial clerk to the Hon. William C. Bryson in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Burgess most recently worked as the managing principal of the Austin office of Dallas-based McKool Smith, where he served on the firmwide management committee.

He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas; and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, in addition to all Texas state district courts.

During his career, Mr. Burgess has earned repeated professional honors in recognition of his work in patent disputes and commercial litigation. He has been named among the best lawyers in the state on the annual Texas Super Lawyers list by Thomson Reuters’ legal division since 2012. He previously claimed multiple selections to the companion Texas Rising Stars list of the state’s leading young lawyers.

He also has been named among the leading lawyers in the country on the annual Chambers USA and Benchmark litigation listings as well as being listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2014.

Mr. Burgess earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Prior to law school, he earned his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in electrical engineering at The Ohio State University.
