Caldwell Cassady & Curry Named to National Best Law Firms List

Firm wins top patent verdict in Texas for second straight year

DALLAS – The Dallas-based business litigation and intellectual property law firm Caldwell Cassady & Curry has been named to the national 2017 Best Law Firms list published by The Best Lawyers in America and U.S. News & World Report. The firm claimed the honor after winning the top intellectual property verdict in Texas for the second year in a row and two of the top nine verdicts in the entire country during 2016.

The exclusive listing follows the selection of name principals Brad Caldwell, Jason Cassady and Austin Curry to the 2016 edition of The Best Lawyers in America and a series of courtroom wins that are ranked among the tops in Texas and the entire U.S.

This spring, Caldwell Cassady & Curry led a legal team that successfully represented VirnetX Holding Corp. in a patent infringement lawsuit against technology giant Apple Inc. The $625.6 million verdict handed down in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas is the largest Texas jury award in an intellectual property case and the sixth-largest overall largest in the nation this year.

The firm followed up that win with a $302 million verdict for VirnetX against Apple in another Eastern District trial. That jury award is ranked as the fourth-largest in Texas during 2016 and the ninth-largest in the country.

The win for VirnetX followed a 2015 verdict against Apple in a different Eastern District patent infringement case for $533 million, which was the largest in the state and the third-largest in the U.S.

The attorneys at Caldwell Cassady & Curry have helped clients win more than $2 billion in verdicts and settlements, including cases involving patent infringement claims, co-founder disputes and complex business litigation.
