Chris Stewart, John Summers recognized for client success, firm leadership
DALLAS – The leaders of the Dallas-based intellectual property and business litigation law firm Caldwell Cassady & Curry have promoted experienced firm attorneys Chris Stewart and John Summers to principal.
Both lawyers earned the new titles based on their years of success for clients and proven leadership within the firm.
“We are extremely proud to recognize Chris and John with expanded roles at the firm,” says name principal Brad Caldwell. “Time and again, they have proven their remarkable legal talent when it mattered most.”
Since Mr. Stewart and Mr. Summers joined the firm in 2013, they have helped Caldwell Cassady & Curry’s clients win billions of dollars in verdicts and settlements based on cases filed in state and federal courts across the country.
Most recently, those wins include last year’s $8.2 million verdict for Acantha LLC against DePuy Synthes in a patent infringement lawsuit tried to a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Earlier in 2018, Mr. Stewart and Mr. Summers played key roles in the firm’s $502.6 million victory for VirnetX against Apple Inc. The unanimous verdict was handed down in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
Like all the attorneys at Caldwell Cassady & Curry, Mr. Stewart and Mr. Summers focus on cases involving significant business disputes and intellectual property claims.
A former Texas Supreme Court clerk, Mr. Stewart has been named to the annual Texas Rising Stars list of the state’s top young attorneys for four consecutive years. He earned selection based on his work in intellectual property litigation and business litigation.
A former Texas Supreme Court clerk himself, Mr. Summers also clerked for the Honorable David Godbey of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He has earned selection to Texas Rising Stars based on his expertise in intellectual property and business litigation for the past two years.
Caldwell Cassady & Curry represents companies and individuals in high-stakes civil litigation, including patent infringement cases, trade secrets claims, fiduciary duty cases, class actions, and disputes involving company founders.
