Mr. Cassady represented Opti in a patent infringement suit against Apple over a patent on a computer operation enabling a “pre-snooping” function designed to allow more efficient data transfer. A jury found that Apple willfully infringed Opti’s patent and awarded a $19 million verdict. The case settled shortly before completion of the appeal to the Federal Circuit.
