Caldwell Cassady & Curry Attorneys Honored on 2017 Texas Rising Stars List

Dallas law firm includes two name principals ranked among Top 100 in Texas

DALLAS – Six attorneys from the Dallas-based intellectual property and business litigation law firm Caldwell Cassady & Curry are named among the state’s best on the 2017 Texas Rising Stars list, including two name principals ranked among Texas’ Top 100.

Jason Cassady and Austin Curry earned selection to the 2017 Top 100 Up-and-Coming Texas Rising Stars listing based on nominations from other lawyers. This year marks Mr. Cassady’s ninth appearance on Rising Stars, and the fourth for Mr. Curry. Both are trial attorneys who focus on patent infringement disputes and complex commercial litigation.

Fellow firm principal Justin Nemunaitis claimed his second consecutive Rising Stars selection. Caldwell Cassady & Curry associates Hamad M. Hamad, Daniel R. Pearson and Chris S. Stewart also were named to the exclusive annual listing of the top lawyers in Texas age 40 and under. All four earned the listings for their work in intellectual property litigation and business litigation.

The honored attorneys recently completed another successful year at Caldwell Cassady & Curry, which won two of the top verdicts in the U.S. during 2016 and the top Texas intellectual property verdict for the second year in a row.

Last February, the firm’s 2017 Rising Stars honorees and other attorneys from Caldwell Cassady & Curry won a $625.6 million patent infringement verdict for VirnetX Inc. against technology giant Apple Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The jury’s award was the second-largest in Texas and the sixth-largest in the nation during the past year.

In October, Caldwell Cassady & Curry once again helped VirnetX prevail against Apple in another Eastern District patent trial. The jury’s $302 million verdict in favor of VirnetX was the fourth-largest in Texas and the ninth-largest in the nation during 2016.

The firm also won a $22 million verdict for Cellular Communications Equipment, LLC, in another Eastern District trial against Apple last year for infringing a network technology patent.
